In the second match, the team gave a tough fight to the seasoned team of ‘Pakhtoon Zalmi’ with a strong batting display & smart tactical changes in bowling strategy. However, Pakhtoon Zalmi known for their aggressive batting clinched a victory by a close margin.

The first match of the season – CVZ Stellar team performance

Cricket Club Zürich won the toss and opted to bat first which allowed the CVZ team to begin the very first innings with their strength which is bowling. The strategy was to bowl in the right areas and draw the opposition into throwing their wickets away. Amit Purohit and Sachin Balan were the standout performers with the ball, taking two wickets each. The rest of the bowling unit was also supported very well, including Ankush, Ranjith, Saurabh, and Vaibhav. The fielders also played their part by taking some valuable catches, with contributions from Vaibhav, Jithesh, Nitesh, and Saurabh. As a result, the opposition succumbed to a total of mere 44 runs in 10 overs.

Ankush and Jithesh started the chase for CVZ with a bang, putting up an impressive opening partnership, and scoring 30 runs in 3 overs. After Ankush’s wicket, Ranjith and Jithesh made sure the target is reached in a quick time. CVZ just scored the chase in 4.3 overs to finish with 9 wickets to spare. Man of the Match was awarded to Amit Purohit for his outstanding pace bowling display.

Second match – Pakhtoon Zalmi batting storm

Winning the toss, CVZ elected to bat first, aiming to put a formidable total on the scoreboard. Pakhtoons got away with a wicket in the first over. However, Ankush quickly took the charge, scoring rapidly with four sixes and a boundary, putting 34 runs in just 16 balls. The second wicket partnership between Ranjith and Ankush was foundational, Ranjith adding quick fire 28 runs in just 14 balls. CVZ scored 87 runs in 10 overs, setting a challenging total ahead of Pakhtoon Zalmi

Pakhtoon Zalmi Cricket Club, known for their clean hitting and fluent batting, did not let the CVZ’s target slip away from their sight. The opening partnership put together quick 40 runs in just 3 overs. CVZ captain quickly turned to the spin attack to apply brakes on the opposition's chase, but the quick-fire opening stand took the run chase pressure completely off the equation. Pakhtoon’s Captain Bashir provided some fireworks towards the end to finish the match in 7.1 overs.

Despite the loss, CVZ can take heart from their aggressive approach with the bat, which allowed them to post a challenging total.

Overall, it was a great day of cricket for Cricket Verein Zug (CVZ), with a resounding victory in the first match followed by a setback in the second match against a strong opposition.
